OK, its not entirely because of exhaust restrictions...

I replaced my complete stock exhaust with:
    Comptech 4-2-1 1pc header
    Carsound 94005 cat (2.25")
    ITR Catback

The entire exhaust is stainless now (weee!) and it bolted up perfect. It also sounds exactly like stock (another plus!). My butt dyno says I made some gains, but, who knows for sure. With the stock exhaust, the power seemed to peak off around 6k and now it seems to keep going up til 8k.

I watched the boost gauge a couple times and it seems to get up to 7-8psi around 4k+ and right as vtec engages, the boost gauge drops down like 1psi and then it goes back up to like 7.5-8 as the rpms increase. So, I don't think it has a whole lot to do with the exhaust restrictions. Not that I have the most free flowing exhaust by any means, but, it should flow much better than stock (especially ditching that stock cat).
